There is two types of Whitening systems one must be done in the office by the dentist. The other is a system which you take home and apply in the comfort of your own home.

UV Whitening

Procedure time 40 min

This type of whitening is a quick and easy way to whiten teeth but must be done by a dentist. Although it is more harsh on teeth. It works great and you see results in minutes. The process begins with a cleaning, which is included in the price of the whitening. After cleaning a gingivital barrier is applied to the gums to protect the gums from coming in contact with the whitening agent. The whitening agent is then applied to the teeth and  left to penetrate the pores of the teeth fore about 5 min. Then the UV light is applied to each tooth to activate the whitening system. The whitening agent is then suctioned off then wiped off and then rinsed. The gingivital barrier  is then removed and the process is finished. it is recommended that you refrain from drinking things with a caramel color for approximately 24 hrs.

Whitening Tray System

Procedure time 1 hr

The second teeth whitening system is the one you can take home and use. this is a system which utilizes teeth whitening trays, molded to your teeth.

The dentist will take molds of your teeth and have trays made in the lab to match your teeth. The molds are then cut to the shape of your teeth so that the whitening agent does not come in contact with the gums. The doctor will then give you the whitening agent and recommend that you ware the trays for a specific amount of time depending on the condition of your teeth. Teeth can become sensitive for a short period of time but you can control the time that you ware the trays to avoid tooth sensitivity. Within a week you should see a difference in the color of your teeth.
